The
Nursery
We have two playrooms which enable us to appropriately arrange
the children according to their intellectual abilities during
a variety of activities. They both have a messy area where
the children can play with sand, water, playdough and paint
as well as a quiet area where children are able to select
quiet activities and rest.
The cloakroom has a box for each chid to put their belongings
in and work they can take home. It is also used as a quiet
room where the older children can read their books to staff
and all the children have the opportunity to work on a one
to one basis.
The bathroom has low, private toilet cubicals where the children
feel they can go to the toilet independently although staff
can still observe and help when needs be. We do not expect
children to be potty trained and have facilities to change
nappies. We can also work with parents to help each child
become toilet trained whether it be through using a toilet
or a potty.
The kitchen has facilities to provide the children with a
warm snack and tea, e.g. toast, and also enables us to prepare
cooking activities for the children. We also cook the hot
meals provided for the children at lunch time at an extra
cost.
We have a large garden fully fenced around the perimeter.
This has a large grassed area with shade provided from numerous
trees. It has a wooden climbing frame and balancing beams
as well as a sandpit and water play (in warmer weather). We
also have access to the school playground where there is a
large area of tarmac along with a wooden fort and playhouse.
